Local history: Many years ago.... Captain
Janvrin returned with his ship to Jersey waters
but realised that his ship was infected with the plague so refused
to land, realising the risk
to the Island but wishing to die in sight of his home land.
When all the crew had succumbed
they were buried on the small outcrop in Portelet Bay which became
known as Janvrin's Tomb
out of respect for the sacrifice they had made in not landing in search
of a possible cure.
